Anti-Nowhere-LeagueHailing from lovely 'Tunbridge Wells'. With 'Animal' singing wielding an axe...he still managed to have the shiniest best condition comb-able hair in 'punk'. If for nothin else they wrote one of the punk classics 'So What'...a song that really didn't a shit about anyone or anything.

AntisectAnother wild whirlwind of power, anger and release...formed in Daventry (South-East of Birmingham).
I caught them live around 20 times and amassed some 40 Live gig photographs too. They supported Discharge in 1982 and saw them on tours with them and right up till about 1985. Knowing most of the band as in the early days they followed Discharge around to in an old 2cv or a green van that always broke down. Masters of the future sound of 'In Darkness' Punk. |
The ApostlesA socially aware punk band that trod a lone path in the back-waters of Anarcho-Punk self-financing and self releasing all of their vinyl E.P's as cheaply and ornately as possible. Andy Martin who i lived with squatting in Hackney in 1983/4 was the mind, heart and driving energy behind the Apostles. We squatting Punks would help out folding each poster delicately for the forthcoming vinyl e.p. releases in our council-hovel prior to release!

DischargeIf Punk had a monarchy then Cal would be king. They harnessed energy and spat it back in your face upped to the 'nth' degree and squared too. It was like an aural Tornado that had your name on it. As a unit...they clicked whatever the line-up....I say Rainy is the spine of Discharge....the rhythm is everything when you are ripping tunes at 1000mph..He and whoever sat on the drum stool....melded as one....well done Master Wainright.
They collected anger by the bucket-load and showered you with tales of war and death (a fun evening out with the kids dear...let's trot down and see Discharge at De-Olivio's Wine Bistro shall we??). I have a colossal 220 LIVE GIG PHOTOGRAPHS of Discharge (I kid you not!) I saw the band 49 TIMES from Oct 80-84. Also the bag of cuttings is large and heavy I reckon about 500 or so in there from centrespreads and record adverts, interviews..every UK one that was featuring Discharge I went out and had to have and I bought. I got about 10 Posters from gigs and tons of flyers and loads of tickets and a few set-lists from Bones/Pete, Rainy & Garry/Bambi. A few Discharge official 1981 T-Shirts and a armband from 1981 (sold to me by Cals girlfriend at a stall at The Mayflower Manchester gig ) Also 2 Discharge 'hankies'..and tons of stuff I have forgotten..even got a few cuttings from USA and france I think....If you wanted Discharge memorabilia then you have just dis-covered a (brave) new world of it..welcome in..!! |
DisorderOne of their songs 'Rampton' could have been written as auto-biographical as this band were high on fun and silliness. Even though their light-hearted stance was a welcome break from the seriousness and 'blackness' of political punk they still wrote one of the best punk songs in 'More than fights'..simple yet powerful
